Flash Forward: A Really Actually Very True Phenomenon

November 3, 2009

Yesterday, in Villeneuve, Switzerland, a mysterious event caused people who were eating fromage frais to simultaneously lose consciousness for 137 seconds.

Luckily, I wasn’t eating fromage frais, so was able to capture this extraordinary sequence of events on film…

First Born

August 4, 2009

Skye has just opened the door to the bedroom, because she heard Noah starting to wake. She lead him down the hallway, and when I saw him, I smiled my biggest smile and asked him to walk towards me. We are doing our best to give him as much walking practise at the moment!

He took one bored look at me, and nonchalantly crawled in the other direction and onto the rug. I feigned heartbreak, to which Skye said, “Never mind, Mummy. I walk to you.”

She pretended to take wobby steps towards me whilst munching on her breakfast apple, ending the distance between us with a few “sprint finish” steps, and then the biggest cuddle she could muster.

“You are lovely, Skye,” I said, “do you know that you are my First Born?”

She looked up at me with those innocent blue eyes, “First Born, Mummy?”

“Yes,” I replied.

“Skye First Born”, she repeated.

And then, absentmindedly, whilst chewing on her apple, “Skye Born Ready.”

“Icy Kating”

March 11, 2009

The new topic hot on Skye’s lips right now is “Icy Kating”, due to Jase buying her some little blades to strap to her shoes. She is dying to try them out, having seen Jase play ice hockey (or simply “hockey” as we are learning to call it out here….our die-hard Canadian friends on the team correct us on this faux-pas). The hockey season is now at a close. Even though Jase didn’t get as much ice-time as he would have hoped, due to physiotherapy on his injured ankle, he did manage to demonstrate just how much his speed across the ice has improved since last season. He has high hopes for next season and hopes to get lots of practice in before then. He is considered an asset to “NestlĂ© 2″ (perhaps after the team’s initial “reservations”…), as what he lacks in grace and speed across the ice, he makes up for in his enthusiasm and determination.
